Delays in the FAFSA this year have created uncertainty for students and families on if they can afford and attend college. CMU eliminated that uncertainty by allowing new and current students to receive an early financial aid offer. First early aid offers began on February 26 and the program ended April 21, 2024. CMU encourages you to complete the FAFSA or CASFA now to receive your Official Aid Offer!

Early 2024-2025 Financial Aid Offers FAQs
As long as they completed the calculator prior to April 21, 2024 new undergraduate admits for fall 2024 and current undergraduate students will receive an early aid offer.
If they are currently enrolled and have a completed 2023-2024 FAFSA or CASFA on file: no action is needed on their part.
If they don’t have a 2023-2024 FAFSA or CASFA on file, they will have needed to complete the net price calculator with their Colorado Mesa student email address and submit results, prior to April 21, 2024.
Students who completed the net price calculator, with the email address used on the CMU admission application and submit results prior to April 21, 204 will receive their early aid offer in the results in the next 3-5 days.
All students who did not complete the net price calculator prior to April 21 should now complete the 2425 FAFSA or CASFA (Colorado ASSET students) in order to receive their official aid offer.
The first wave of estimated award offers will be sent the week of Feb 26-Mar 1. After that, they will be sent out every 3-5 business days.
The last set of Early Aid Offers will be sent the week of April 22.
Our team has put in a lot of time and hard work to ensure these early aid offers are accurate as possible, given that the information provided is too.
If there are discrepancies between the early and actual award offers, our team will holistically review each student’s award offers to ensure that our students are receiving the better award offer for the 2024-2025 school year, within reason. Factors we will look at: did the student accurately represent their 2022 tax information, and then other normal financial aid requirements such as enrollment, residency, housing status, etc.
The financial aid team is reviewing actual FAFSA/CASFA data compared to Early Aid Offers to make sure of the accuracy before an official financial aid offer will be sent.
You should receive your early aid offer within one to two weeks from the time you submit your calculator results. The first round of early aid offers will be generated beginning February 26. Students who completed their net price calculator prior to April 21 will receive their Early Aid offer in tech following days.
No Early Aid Offers will be sent after April 21.
New and continuing students will receive an email containing their early aid offer to their CMU student email address.
New students will additionally receive a physical early financial aid offer in the mail.
The calculator is set up to ask questions similar to the FAFSA/CASFA along with questions unique to the types of aid offered at CMU. These questions include:
- Personal information
- Citizenship status
- State and county residency
- Student and parent financial and asset information
- Dependency status
- General questions such as HS GPA and housing plans while in college
Yes! Students whose parents do not have an SSN can still complete the calculator to receive an early aid offer.
Students will still need to complete the FAFSA with their parent once they are able to do so.
