The Continuing Student Housing Application will open on February 23 at 9:00 AM.
- The application will be available from February 23 through March 5 in the Maverick Housing portal on MAVzone. Students should complete the Standard Application for the 2026–2027 Academic Year.
- Room selection timeslots will be assigned based on when the initial housing application is submitted and group size. This timeslot will be averaged for all roommates in groups. After submitting the application, students will be able to form roommate groups and message other students through the portal.
- All students who complete the application within this timeframe will receive their room selection timeslot on March 6.
- The Room Selection process will open on March 9, at which time students can log into the portal and select a room for the Fall 2026 semester based on their assigned timeslot.
We will be hosting an Info Session on this Continuing Student Room Selection process on February 19th from 4-5 PM in Dominguez Hall 111 for students who have questions on this process.
We will be hosting Room Selection Open Houses on February 23rd from 8:45 - 10:45 AM for any assistance in this room selection process. We will have professional staff available in the lobbies of your residence halls and staff available in the Residence Life office who can help you through this room selection process.
Housing exemptions will be available in the Forms tab of the Maverick Housing portal beginning on February 16th for the Fall 2026 semester.
Continuing students who are interested in requesting to move off campus will be required to complete this Housing Exemption process and be approved before their housing contract is canceled.
Exemptions will be granted for the following reasons
- Resides at parent’s permanent address within Mesa County
- Will be 21 years of age before the start of the semester
- Completed 60 or more credit hours (this does not include pre-registered classes in your DegreeWorks)
- Lived in CMU housing for four semesters
- Married or have a dependent child
- Attending only Montrose campus
You may NOT request an exemption based solely on the fact that you have found a less expensive off campus option or because you have signed a lease.
Students may make changes to their meal plans through February 4th.
Students residing in non-apartment-style residence halls are required to maintain a residential meal plan (14, 17, or Unlimited). However, they may switch between these plans until the February 4th deadline.
Students residing in apartment-style residence halls have the option to cancel their meal plan by this deadline.
Any MAVmoney associated with meal plans is non-refundable; however, students will retain access to their MAVmoney for the duration of the semester.
