ACCESS COURSE RESERVES

Has your professor placed items "on reserve" at the library for you to access, such as book chapters or a DVD? Access Course Reserves to locate materials for your class and/or professor.

COURSE RESERVES REQUEST

Putting items "on reserve" is a great option to increase course material affordability and the ADA-friendliness of course materials. Faculty can complete the Course Reserves Request to request an item (e.g., book, DVD, chapters) be placed on reserve for your students. 

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a cooperative agreement among libraries that allows libraries to borrow materials from each other for the benefit of their patrons. Copyright guidelines govern the types of copying and loaning libraries participating in ILL agreements can do. As a result, ILL requests must comply with copyright requirements.

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17. United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy/reproduction is not to be “used for any purposes other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of fair use, that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
