Requesting Alternative Format Textbooks

Please make your alternate book format requests early - we suggest one to two weeks prior to the start of the semester. It is the student's responsibility to provide EAS with the relevant book information and proof of purchase/rental agreement. Production of alternative book formats can only begin when we have all of the required information.

All books provided by EAS are subject to the following copyright agreement:

Student will not loan, edit, alter, share, copy distribute, or release EAS provided texts (in whole or in part) in any way, shape, or form - hard copy, electronic, or otherwise - with/to any other person, due to copyright law. If the student is no longer in possession of the paid version of the materials, the student will delete/destroy all electronic versions of the same item. Copyright law applies to the use of the materials, and that violation of these terms are subject to the Student Code of Conduct, as well as copyright infringement law repercussions beyond the realm of Colorado Mesa University.

Follow the instructions on the How to view textbooks webpage found on the Maverick Store website. Creating an account will sync with your registered classes to display required textbooks for your enrolled classes. Once you have that list and know which books you need a digital version of, return here to request the alternative format through your AIM Portal.

Also, check your course syllabuses for required textbooks that may come later in the term as well.

Note books that are listed as already billed are digital so you won't need to request an alternative format textbook for that textbook. These books will be available through that course D2L shell. If you need assistive technology within the software for your digital book, reach out for training support.

EAS utilizes online licenses for Kurzweil 3000 as a read aloud software. There is an accompanying web extension called Read The Web that can be utilized as well.

  1. Log into the AIM PORTAL

    • If you do not see your desired course for your textbook you will need to contact EAS

  6. You will receive a notification sent to your CMU email when your book is ready.
  7. You can Download or check on the status of your requested books through the "Alternative Formats" tab in AIM; print formats (e.g. Braille) will be made available for pick up at EAS during office hours.
