General/Academic Accommodation Requests

Colorado Mesa University is committed to reasonably accommodating persons with disabilities who require accommodations to participate in university programs and services. If you are seeking accommodations for the classroom or more than one are of campus, please follow the steps below to begin the accommodation process. Students attending classes in the current semester will receive prioritized processing over incoming students.

Looking for housing accommodations?

Check out the applications for dining and emotional support animals in the EAS main navigation menu under Apply for Accommodations. All accommodation applications can be found on the AIM Application Dashboard

Step 1

Determine Appropriate Application

Carefully select the accommodation application that best fits your needs: long term versus temporary, academic versus housing. Contact EAS if you have questions about which application is right for you.
Step 3

Provide Supporting Documentation

Documentation can be uploaded as part of the application, emailed to [email protected], or delivered to EAS in Houston Hall, 108.

  1. Documentation Guidelines

Learn more about types of supporting documentation here.

Step 4

Schedule Access Meeting

After the application has been submitted, the EAS office will review the documentation and application then contact the student via MAVs email to set up a one-hour access meeting appointment. This meeting is required in order to receive accommodations. Access Meetings can be held in-person or virtually as well as during the summer.
  1. Request Appointment

You can check the status of your application by returning to the application page. Select “View Application” for submitted application. To begin scheduling an access meeting: Select “Appointments” from the application menu and “Request Appointment” in the upper right-hand corner.

Step 5

Accommodations Approved

Accommodations are usually available after the Access Meeting.
The Access Meeting is an interactive process that will last about 45 minutes to an hour. EAS will discuss the student's disability(ies) and its impacts on the student in an academic environment. A follow-up meeting may be necessary to address the eligibility and utilization of accommodations.
  1. Student Requests Course Accommodations

Students will be setup with an AIM account with accommodations deemed reasonable in the Access Meeting. Students will be trained on how to communicate their accommodations via Faculty Accommodation Memos (FAM's) on the AIM portal. Find more AIM training here.

Application Suspension Policy

EAS will attempt to contact the student via the student's Mavs email or phone for up to one month after the application submission date. After attempting to contact the student at least 3 times without response, EAS will suspend the student's application. The application information will be saved and can be re-activated by the student contacting EAS.

Student Responsibilities
  1. Each semester, the student is required to log in to the AIM portal to send accommodations to any or all new courses (regardless if the student has had the professor previously).
  2. The student will need to contact EAS with any concerns, questions or changes needed.
  3. Please Note: Accommodations are Not Retroactive, is it imperative to request accommodations in a timely manner.
