The Marketing and Communications Team learns and applies emerging tools to scale creativity and capacity. The team tests new methods and mediums that bring the university's brand and mission to life.
The department does not lock into a single platform, workflow or tradition. It stays tool-agnostic and adapts content practices as the media environment changes.
CMU uses a mixed-media strategy that pairs established production software with newer capabilities. Many of the department's core design and editing applications now include built-in intelligence features that automate parts of layout, editing and finishing.
Platforms and tools used in ongoing content creation
Adobe Creative Cloud — Industry-standard apps such as InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and After Effects. These remain the core platforms for design, video editing and visual effects. They combine traditional techniques and standard CGI with built-in intelligence tools that speed up selected design and editing tasks.
Artlist — A licensed library for stock music and sound effects. The platform also includes emerging generation and search features used to source and finish audio for video.
Suno — Used to create customizable, university-owned music assets in place of generic stock tracks. The team can then refine those assets with standard audio engineering and enhancement tools.
This mix is meant to strengthen the team's craft, not replace it. The goal is to grow skills that hold up as the content ecosystem keeps changing.
