Colorado Mesa University maintains media credential protocols to ensure that news coverage of campus events in conducted in a manner that supports transparency, protects the safety and privacy of participants and preserves flow of university operations.

Media Credential Protocols

Media credential protocols apply to journalists, photographers, videographers, content creators and other media representatives requesting access to university buildings, events or personnel for the purpose of reporting or producing content. Credentialing requirements may apply to high-profile events, athletic competitions, academic ceremonies, press briefings, crisis situations or other activities where managed media access is necessary for safety and logistics.

These protocols are administered by CMU's Marketing and Communications Office or Athletics Information Services team.

Campus Safety Policies

Compliance with campus policies and safety is managed by Campus Safety Officers. CMU asks its students, faculty and staff to lead with the institutions seven defined values: love, dignity, courage, humility, resilience, curiosity and power, and asks its guests and media affiliates to respect the same when visiting campus. In doing so, every attendee can feel safe and respected when attending on-campus events.
