The Cost of Attendance consists of the sum of educational costs payable to the school; referred to as billable costs and costs paid to others; referred to as non-billable costs. The Cost of Attendance represents the highest dollar amount of financial aid a student can receive during an award year.

How your Cost of Attendance is Calculated

Tuition and Fees- This amount is calculated with the assumption of full-time enrollment. A 12 credit hour amount is used for undergraduate students, while a 6 credit hour amount is used for graduate students. Your actual expenses may vary. Tuition and fee amounts are projected for financial aid purposes and subject to change, pending approval by the CMU Board of Trustees.

Living Expenses -  For students residing in CMU Housing an average amount assuming a double-occupancy room and “Unlimited Meal Plan" is used. Off-campus housing for undergraduates and all graduate students is calculated using rates prescribed by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE). Your actual expenses may vary.

Course Materials - An allowance within guidelines prescribed by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) is used for reasonable books, supplies, course materials, and equipment expenses. The total estimated allowance represents a rounded number based on the full-time enrollment amount used in approximating tuition & fee expenses (12 credit hours undergraduate/6 credit hours graduate). Your actual expenses may vary.

Transportation - An allowance is made for reasonable transportation expenses that may be incurred by students while attending classes in Fort Collins and for occasional trips home; this amount is within guidelines prescribed by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE). Non-resident students are permitted an additional premium intended to support additional trips to his/her home state during the academic year. Your actual expenses may vary.

Other Educational Costs - This component includes allowances for personal and miscellaneous expenses as prescribed by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) for the nine-month academic year. If you borrow student loans, this amount will increase to account for any applicable loan fees.
