General FAQ
This page offers guidance on how to address common maintenance and facilities-related concerns at Colorado Mesa University. If you are unable to resolve the issue using the steps below, please submit a work order.

Make sure air vents are fully open and the thermostat is set correctly.

Check your circuit breaker and reset if needed.

If problems continue, submit a work order.
- To report empty soap, towel, or toilet paper dispensers, call the Custodial Hotline at 970.208.6369.

Bins are located across campus buildings.

A map of recycling stations will be available soon.

Overflowing toilet? Turn off the valve at the base of the toilet near the wall.

For clogs, avoid repeated flushing. Use a plunger or submit a work order.

If a stove or oven burner won’t turn off, check and reseat the control knob.

You can also try resetting the breaker.

If a breaker trips, try resetting it. Avoid overloading outlets or power strips.

For outlets with reset buttons, try pressing ‘reset.’

If power isn’t restored, submit a work order.
- Report flickering or non-functioning lights via a work order. Response time may vary.

- For Wi-Fi or Ethernet connectivity issues, contact the CMU Technology Help Desk at 970.248.2111.

Report elevator malfunctions through a work order.

In emergencies, always call 911.

Report sightings of pests or rodents via a work order.

Keep living and work areas clean to avoid attracting pests.
- For leaking faucets or pipes, submit a work order. Use a towel or container to contain water safely if needed.

If your area is uncomfortably hot or cold, and HVAC appears operational, check for drafts.

Submit a work order for further assistance.
- Report broken or missing university-issued furniture through a work order.
