Department of Health Sciences

Colorado Mesa University Department of Health Sciences consists of four healthcare professional programs: Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Emergency Medical Services (including the new Emergency Medical Responder class) and Medical Laboratory Technology (including phlebotomy). These programs seek to educate and train a diverse scope of students who, upon graduation, will be equipped with the skills and proficiency to deliver a broad range of high-quality, culturally competent care to individuals, families and communities.

The educational curriculum of these programs include a wide variety of teaching methods including the use of fully equipped skills labs, high-tech simulation mannequins and clinical placements in a variety of health care organizations and rural hospitals. These unique educational delivery systems provide students with the opportunity to master course content and skills while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

Our career ladder approach to learning allows healthcare professionals to continue their education to the next level while maintaining their employment in healthcare. The Department of Health Sciences has reached out to rural communities in the region by delivering selected coursework via online and distance learning technologies.

We are also dedicated to preparing the next generation of healthcare professional through our innovative, hands-on M*A*S*H Camp for middle school students interested in health careers, offered every summer.
