1. New Student Orientation
First-time students are required to sign up for Digital Orientation to receive a class schedule.

Request AP/IB scores and official transcripts
Request for AP or IB scores to be sent from the respective testing organization to CMU. Request for official transcripts for concurrent/dual enrollment courses to be sent from the issuing institution to CMU.

Class Placement Testing
Check to see if you need to complete class placement testing.

Explore the program sheet for your major
We encourage you to check out your program sheet to see the classes you will take to earn your degree.
2. Enrollment Confirmation

Submit the $50 enrollment deposit
Confirm that you will be attending CMU by submitting your $50 enrollment deposit via card or electronic check.

Verify your tuition classification status
This is listed on your acceptance letter. If it’s not what you expected, contact the Admissions Office.

Apply for the College Opportunity Fund
If you are classified as an in-state student (Colorado resident), this will reduce your direct tuition cost. After you apply, you must authorize COF on the 'My Account' page in MAVzone.

Sign up for the Emergency Warning System
Opt in to receive alert messages in the event of an emergency situation.

Verify your Social Security Number
Review and your Social Security Number on the 'My Account' page in MAVzone.

Submit your immunization records
Colorado State law requires college students to show proof of vaccinations.

Submit proof of Selective Service
Submit your proof of registration if requested.

Address other registration holds
Make sure you identify and address your registration holds. Click for details of common holds.

Request final transcripts
If you applied to CMU before completing high school or a college semester, contact your school to request that your final transcript is mailed directly to the Admissions Office.
3. Student Finances

Create a student budget
Use this interactive budgeting tool to help make a plan for your student finances.

Complete the FAFSA
The Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) determines a student's eligibility for financial aid such as grants, loans and work study.

Apply for scholarships
CMU Merit Scholarships are automatically offered based on the application for admission. CMU also offers a yearly scholarship application in MAVzone. It is due on December 31 for the following academic year.

Review and accept your financial aid award offer
Your offer will be available after you have applied for financial aid and provided any additional documentation if requested. Offers begin in early spring for students enrolling in the fall.

Review the Financial Responsibility Agreement
Carefully review and accept the agreement.

View and manage your bill
The ePay app is where you can view your semester bill beginning in late July. Semester bills are due at the beginning of the semester by being paid in full or by enrolling in a free semester payment plan. You can set up electronic refunds and give a parent or supporter access to ePay for billing purposes.
4. Housing
Freshman and sophomore students under the age of 21 who do not live with their parents in Mesa County are required to live on campus.

As you prepare to make CMU your home away from home, we encourage you to dive in, get involved and make the most of your college career.

Sign up for an Early Start Program
Eligible first-time students may sign up for an Early Start Program to arrive on campus early. Students take a college success class and familiarize themselves with campus resources before the start of the regular semester.

Upload your MAVcard photo
Follow the guidelines in the MyPhoto app to upload your photo for your MAVcard student ID.

View the CMU academic calendar
Familiarize yourself with important dates, semester breaks and exam schedules.

Look up your textbooks
Use The Maverick Store search tool to identify the textbooks you'll need.

Purchase your parking pass
Purchase your residential or commuter parking pass for the academic year. Passes are available for purchase beginning August 1.
