What: Go@CMU - Project Kick Start
Why: Get real world experience from your college courses
When: First Friday 5:30-9pm of Spring and Fall Semester
Where: Maverick Innovation Center - 730 Mesa Avenue, Grand Junction, CO 81501

What is it?
Go@CMU is a mixer event the first Friday evening and an optional startup event Saturday morning of each semester. It is a way to create semester or longer collaborative teams that work to solve community problems. It is intended to be a fun and effective way to quickly kick-start projects which are commitments from students (as part of classes,  internships and/or your own start-up) to create solutions for business, government, non-profit, and campus needs.

What do I get from it?
If you are looking for experiences that matter both now and after you graduate, and are willing to commit time as part of a semester project,  internship, or your business idea - you should come.  We provide an opportunity to hear about community (campus, business, government and nonprofit) problems where you can offer your skills to move the world forward.  You can transform the time you already have to commit as part of a class into a real world collaborative experience.

What do I need to do?
For the event to be successful, you need to be open to a commitment.

  1. Delay absolute commitments of your large projects until after Go. Even if you have a “plan A” for a project, pitching it at Go can make some surprising connections.
  2. Think about what time you have and skills you have or want to learn as part of a team.
  3. If you know of a problem or opportunity you care about - come to the event.
  4. Listen. Share. You might be amazed where a conversation can take you.

What are we not?
We want you to have a fun experience sharing ideas and connecting with people. We don’t make promises or force anyone’s hand.
