MBA Admission Requirements

MBA applications are accepted throughout the year with admissions decisions made shortly after the receipt of a completed admissions package.  Upon approval, students may start the MBA program Fall or Spring semester, however, completed packages must be received at least 45 days prior to the start of the first semester. Admissions Checklist

  1.  Application
  2.  Transcripts
    • Possess an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Have a GPA of 3.0 or better from the most recent 60 credit hours of course work earned towards a bachelor degree and a GPA of 3.0 or better from prior graduate work.
    • Submit official transcripts to the Colorado Mesa University, Department of Business, Attn: Annie Shoberg, 1100 North Ave., Grand Junction, CO 81501.
  3.  GRE Test Scores
    • Submit official GRE test scores (Graduate Record Examination Test) or GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) to Colorado Mesa University, Department of Business, Attn: Annie Shoberg, 1100 North Ave., Grand Junction, CO 81501. Register at to schedule an appointment for the GRE.
    • GRE waivers are available for those who have substantial managerial experience.  In order to obtain the waiver, please submit your current resume along with your admissions packet for review by the MBA Admissions committee.  In addition to the resume, ensure you are able to substantiate your managerial experience within your Personal Essay.
  4.  Two Letters of Recommendation
    • Two recommendations: one professional and one academic. Please email Annie Shoberg at with the names and email addresses of the evaluators you are asking to do the recommendation. Ms. Shoberg will email the recommendation form to your evaluators.
  5.  Personal Essay
    • 750 word essay: indicating reasons for seeking a Master of Business Administration degree including professional and/or career goals and pertinent past work experience.  The minimum length is 750 words, submitted as MS Word document with 1” margins, 12 pt. font and a cover page which includes the name of applicant and date. Leveling Courses 

Leveling Courses provide a foundation for success in the MBA program.  Applicants who enter the program with an undergraduate degree in business come prepared with business knowledge from these courses.  Non-business majors are encouraged, but not required, to prepare for their MBA experience by taking the following courses.  While each of these courses is offered by CMU, additional delivery methods are available, including online instruction.

Admission to the MBA program is open to anyone holding the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree, in any field of study, from an accredited institution.
