Why does the MBA Program admit once a year?
Unlike many online MBA programs that offer multiple start dates, CMU's MBA program admits a new cohort once a year, creating a more personalized and connected learning experience. Rather than offering multiple start dates, this approach allows students to progress through the program alongside the same group of working professionals.
Throughout the program, you'll build relationships with classmates who bring diverse professional experiences and perspectives to the classroom. Through shared coursework, discussions and collaborative projects, you'll exchange ideas, learn from one another and develop a professional network that extends beyond graduation.
The cohort-based program also allows faculty to take a personalized approach to admissions, reviewing applications together as part of the same applicant pool rather than on a rolling basis.
The Master of Business Administration degree is a challenging program designed to prepare graduates for the changing business world. The degree is awarded after successful completion of 36-45 semester hours of rigorous study. The program is designed to provide the student with a broad background in business while allowing the student to focus on a specified area of study, if desired.
Academic Requirements for Master of Business Administration in Business AdministrationMajority of MBA students work full time while they study. They use the MBA to take on a larger role where they now work, or to prepare for their next step in western Colorado.
CMU MBA graduates work in accounting firms, hospitals, ski resorts, manufacturing companies, universities and other large and small organizaitons.
In 2025, workers with a master's degree had median weekly earnings of $1,876. Workers with a bachelor's degree had median weekly earnings of $1,578. In the Grand Junction area, management jobs paid an average of $65.42 per hour in May 2025. This is more than twice the average for all jobs in the area, which was $30.08 per hour according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Small Cohorts
The MBA program admits a limited number of students, allowing faculty to provide personalized attention and meaningful feedback. With smaller cohorts, you'll build relationships with your classmates while faculty get to know you and your work.

Rather than receiving only a grade or rubric, you'll receive individualized feedback from faculty on major projects. This guidance helps you understand your strengths, identify areas for improvement and apply what you've learned to future projects and professional challenges.

3+2 Program
CMU's unique 3+2 program allows eligible students to earn both a bachelor's degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in just five years. Students pursuing one of three undergraduate programs may qualify for this accelerated pathway:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting
- Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance
- Bachelor of Science in Construction Management
