The Colorado Mesa University Dance Team is a division II varsity team that performs in jazz, hip hop and pom styles of dance. The Dance Team is housed in the theatre department's dance program where they have access to professional dance training such as ballet and jazz technique while performing at athletic events and national competitions. The Dance Team builds networking connections, provides upper division credits, offers professional opportunities and encourages individual and team critical thinking skills.
Athletics Events
The purpose of our program is to serve as leaders of school spirit, promote school pride and create an exciting game day experience and home advantage while unifying students, faculty, alumni, and fans in support of Colorado Mesa University and athletic teams.

Competitions
The Dance Team attend in divisional nationals performing jazz, hip hop, pom, and game day. We participate at Universal College Association and Dance Team Union national events.

Meet the Coach
Coach Gabriele "Gabbie" Cahill graduated from Colorado Mesa University in 2013 with a BA in dance. During her time as an undergrad, she was honored with multiple awards including outstanding performer and choreographer. After graduation, she traveled to Las Vegas to rebuild a dance program and create media content through dance film projects. In 2018, Gabbie studied Creative Process in Choreography at St.Mary's College of California.
In 2015 Gabbie was hired as the program director and coach for the Mavettes Dance Team, now branded and called the Colorado Mesa University Dance Team. Since taking over the program, the team is able to travel and participate in national competitions including USA and Dance Team Union. The program has also been built to train and prepare students in a professional level of commercial dance allowing dancers to continue to perform for professional teams in the NBA, NFL, etc.
Coach Gabbie is an instructor of dance technique and choreographer for the CMU dance program where she teaches jazz, hip hop, and ballet.
