Graduate Application - Teacher Education

Admission requirements

Colorado Mesa University encourages applications from all qualifying individuals meeting the following criteria, upon which competitive selection will be made by the committee. Applicants must:

  • hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • hold a current Colorado Teaching License--for principal and SPED licensure programs
  • demonstrate evidence of strong academic background and ability to pursue advanced study
  • demonstrate evidence of dedication and promise to the field of education as a professional leader
  • have excellent English reading, writing and critical thinking skills
  • possess competence in the use of education technology
  • maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0
  • attend Graduate Student Orientation at CMU

Students must already have a Master of Arts degree to pursue a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership.

Application deadlines

  • Preferred deadline is March 15th for summer (May) start - May 1st is the last day we can accept application materials with time to evaluate for summer admission.
  • Preferred deadline is June 1 for fall (August) start - August 1st is the last day we can accept application materials with time to evaluate for fall admission.
  • Preferred deadline is November 1 for spring (January) start - January 1st is the last day we can accept application materials with time to evaluate for spring admission.

Application

A $50 application fee is collected when you submit your application.
Step 3

Colorado Teaching License

Current Teaching license required for Principal and SPED licensure candidates. Prospective students of other education programs who do not hold a license should contact gradprograms@coloradomesa.edu to inquire about licensure requirements.

Statement of Purpose

Complete the statement of purpose commenting on your personal educational philosophy and interest in the program.
