How to Apply

Admission requirements

Colorado Mesa University encourages applications from all qualifying individuals meeting the following criteria, upon which competitive selection will be made by the committee. Applicants must:

  • hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • hold a current Colorado Teaching License
  • demonstrate evidence of strong academic background and ability to pursue advanced study
  • demonstrate evidence of dedication and promise to the field of education as a professional leader
  • have excellent English reading, writing and critical thinking skills
  • possess competence in the use of education technology
  • maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0
  • attend Graduate Student Orientation at CMU

Students must already have a Master of Arts degree to pursue a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership.

Application deadlines

March 15 for summer (May) start.

June 1 for fall (August) start.

November 1 for spring (January) start.

To be considered for admission, the application and all supplemental items must be submitted by the deadline. The graduate application and supplemental items will be submitted online through CMUconnect.

A $50 application fee is collected when you submit your application.

Official Transcripts

  1. Request Transcripts from Previous Institutions

    Official transcripts of undergraduate degree and graduate (if applicable) institutions attended. Transcripts must be sent directly from the institution to Colorado Mesa University.

Colorado Teaching License

  1. Upload license to CMUconnect

    Upload a photocopy of your Colorado Teaching License

Statement of Purpose

Complete the statement of purpose commenting on your personal educational philosophy and interest in the program.
