Where do you want to live next year?
Students who currently live on campus do not have to submit an additional housing pre-payment. Participate in Room Selection starting February 27th, 2023.
Step One: Fill out the Room Selection Application through MyHousing under the Applications tab in MyHousing. The application is available from 9am February 27, 2023 to 4pm March 3, 2023.
Step Two (optional): Submit a roommate/suitemate request via My College Roomie. Roommate/suitemate requests must be mutual to be valid. This will be available 9am on February 28th, 2023 to midnight on March 9th, 2023.
Step Three: Select your room from 9am on March 13th, 2023 to 4pm on March 17th, 2023.
On Saturday, March 11, 2023, you will be assigned a time and day that you can log in to MyHousing and select your 2023-2024 room assignment. You have from your assigned time until 4pm March 17, 2023 to select your room. Room selection assigned times are based on time of room selection application.
Students who have added roommate/suitemate requests will be assigned the same time to select their room. Any student from the roommate/suitemate group can assign all students in the group.
Fall 2023 Continuing Student Housing Application opens March 6th, 2023
Students who did not submit a Room Selection Application, and are required to, or prefer to, live on campus during the 2023-2024 Academic Year will need to apply online through MyHousing. Fill out the 2023- 2024 Continuing Student Application (Fall 2023). You will be assigned housing based on the date of application, your living requests, and space available.
What about Off-Campus?
Please review our Residency Policy to see if you qualify for an exemption to our policy which requires all first and second year students to live on campus. If you qualify for an exemption, you must apply and be approved for an exemption by Residence Life before you will be eligible to live off-campus. The exemption application for the 2023-2024 Academic Year will be available in MyHousing beginning February 1st, 2023.
Visit the Housing Residency Policy Exemption page for more information.
Room Selection Frequently Asked Questions
There are eligibility requirements for some halls.
- Orchard Apartments has a GPA requirement of 2.5 or higher
- Only second year and up students are eligible to live in the apartment-style halls
- Only first year students are eligible to live in Bunting Hall, Lucero Suites, and Wingate Hall
- Students over the legal drinking age are eligible to live in any of the apartment-style halls, Pinon, Tolman, Rait, and Albers Hall
There are multiple reasons why you may not see one of your top three living requests on the lists of rooms to select when your timeslot opens:
- Your roommate group is larger than any available spaces left in the room selection process. For example, if you are in a roommate group of 4 people, but there are no longer suites or apartments available with 4 or more beds, it will appear that there are no rooms available. Students will only be able to see spaces that fit their entire roommate group. (Roommate groups can be split up to fill smaller spaces by contacting Residence life)
- The halls you requested are full. If the buildings you requested are not showing up as options when you go to select a room, there may not be any open beds left in those buildings.
- You are not eligible to select a bed in the building you are requesting, or a person in your roommate group is not eligible. If one person in your roommate group is not eligible for a hall, that hall will not show up on the list for anyone in the group to select.
Roommate matching is limited to groups of six. Most suites and apartments will not fit groups larger than six, with the exception of Grand Mesa Hall. Students wanting to form roommate groups larger than six (to fill an entire Grand Mesa Suite) must contact residence life to add roommates number 7, 8, and 9* to the group. This request must be made before March 9th at 11:59pm to be considered.
*Students are not required to create a roommate group that fills all beds in a suite or apartment.Students who know who they want to live with for the 2023-2024 academic year can form roommate groups in My College Roomie. All students will receive an email invitation to My College Roomie within 24 hours of submitting a Room Selection Application.
- Complete a My College Roomie profile
- Search for your friends’ names
- Mutually request each other as roommates. Roommate requests must be mutual (both people must create a profile and request each other) to be considered.
All students will have access to My College Roomie and the option to form roommate groups until 11:59pm March 9th. Roommate requests submitted after March 9th at 11:59pm will not be granted. Only mutually requested roommates will be assigned the same selection time.
Students are not required to form roommate groups to fill an entire room, suite, or apartment. Students have the option to participate in Room Selection individually.
Students will receive an email invitation to My College Roomie within 24 hours of submitting a Room Selection Application. Create your profile, complete a roommate matching questionnaire, and begin messaging, friend requesting, or requesting other students as roommates.
All students will have access to My College Roomie and the option to form roommate groups until 11:59pm March 9th.
Incoming and transfer students complete a different application process for housing than continuing residents, and often do not meet the eligiblity requirements of the rooms available for continuing residents to select during Room Selection.
Residence Life will review requests to live with an incoming freshmen or transfer student on a case-by-case basis, depending on availability and eligibility. If you are interested in living with an incoming freshmen or transfer student, contact Residence Life.
Students are asked to select their top three living requests when submitting a Room Selection Application. These living requests do not increase your likeliness of getting a particular room style, or guarantee you a bed in that hall/room style. The purpose of selecting living requests on the Room Selection Application is for Res Life staff members to use when assigning students that did not select a room before the Room Selection process closed.
Please note: Apartments make up about 60% of the beds available to second year and above residents. Apartments are highly requested for students in the second year (and beyond) on campus. However, not all second year and above residents will be able to select an apartment-style room. Second year and above housing is available in most other residence halls on campus.
Students that would like to request moving to a different room may add themself to a waitlist beginning March 20th, 2023 at 9am. Waitlist will be available in MyHousing on the Room Selection tab. Two waitlists are available to all students - a single room waitlist and double room waitlist. Students may add themself to one or both waitlists.
