You are responsible for reviewing the messages sent to you.  To access your CMU email account, find the Outlook application in MAVzone. Go to "Applications" and search for Outlook. Once there, you can choose to add the application to your favorites for easy access on the MAVzone dashboard.

Do it!  Complete your placement testing requirements, if applicable. Completing placement testing prior to Orientation will ensure that you register for the appropriate courses.  For information about who needs to test as well as how to test on or off campus, please see the testing page.

Do it!  Check out the estimated cost of tuition and housing here. Use the student budget worksheet on our Finances page here to estimate your bill and start planning for how to pay.

Do it!  Review any holds on your account and take the necessary steps to remove them. To view your holds, click here.  For a list of common holds and how to take care of them, review the Registrar’s page, here.  If you still have questions about your holds, contact IRIS in Lowell Heiny Hall.

Do it!  Verify your Social Security Number.  Go to "My Account" in MAVzone and open the "Personal" information drop down. Click "Verify Social Security Number" to see if your social security number is already on file with the Registrar's Office. If your social security number is listed, please review it to make sure it is correct.  If it is correct, no further action is needed. If your social security number is not listed or it is incorrect, please submit a copy of your social security card to the Registrar's Office.

Do it!  Attend New Student Orientation or contact an advisor to register for classes. Only In-state students are required to attend New Student Orientation, but all students are strongly encouraged to attend. Sign up for Orientation in your MAVzone portal by going to "My Tasks" and viewing the "Next Steps" drop down.  If you are an out-of-state student and you cannot attend Orientation, please contact the IRIS Desk to set up an appointment with an advisor (phone-in appointments are available): 970-248-1177.

Apply Now!  Colorado Residents: Apply for & Authorize COF. The College Opportunity Fund provides a stipend that pays a portion of your total in-state tuition at CMU.  This is money you do not have to pay back!  You just have two easy steps to complete: 1.) apply for COF and 2.) authorize COF to receive the stipend.

Authorize COF Now! Once you have applied for COF, you will need to also authorize COF to receive the stipend.

Do it!  Are you registered for an online or hybrid (in person and online) course? If so, you’ll receive an email to your official CMU account with a link to complete the online D2L orientation.  Complete the online orientation and pass the quiz or you’ll be dropped from your online or hybrid course. You can also find this link under "My Tasks" in the MAVzone portal.

Do it!  Are you waitlisted for a course? If you are on a waitlist for a course that is full, you will need to check your official CMU email daily.  When a seat opens in the course and you have the opportunity to add the course, you’ll receive an email notification. Once you receive the notification, you need to add the course using the course registration tools found on the Registrar's website. There is a limited time period for you to add the course or you’ll be dropped from the waitlist. Depending on the time in the semester, you will have anywhere from 24-48 hours to add the course once you receive your notification. If you have an Advising hold on your account, just call 970-248-1177 or email [email protected] for assistance.
