In January, the First-Gen+ Support Center hosted 100+ students at the Maverick Minds Conference. This conference was the first of its kind at CMU, offering students a unique chance to explore their thought processes and discover how others think. It was designed for first-generation students, TRIO participants and various student groups across campus.

Together with Student Life and the First-Gen+ Support Center, the Task Force supported the annual celebration of National First Gen Week in November. Events included “Brunch & Buttons” where students showed off their first-gen pride and creativity, the Arcadia Takeover, and the National First-Generation Day celebration on November 8.

Strategic campus partnerships with Admissions, the First-Gen+Support Center, and Student Life helped integrate first-generation student programming into New Mav Days. The Task Force hosted “First-Gen and Juice” on the Saturday morning of New Mav Days in partnership with the Student Life Pancake Breakfast. Students could choose from three Maverick-themed juice blends and receive information about first-generation student supports and communities on campus.
