CMU's First-Gen Task Force
Founded in 2023, the First-Generation Task Force was created out of a deep commitment to supporting first-generation student success and building community at Colorado Mesa University. Since its inception, the Task Force has met year-round to explore ways to advance the Strategic Plan pillar, “Promoting the Value of Higher Education.” By engaging faculty, staff, and students, the Task Force works to inspire a positive narrative around higher education and highlight the unique experiences of first-generation students at CMU.
How We Support Our University
The First-Generation Task Force supports CMU’s mission by advancing opportunity, belonging, and student success. In addition to monthly meetings, the Task Force has 4 strategic subcommittees that foster cross-campus collaboration.
Pre-College Programs
Check out our collaboration with Mesa County School District 51, Riverside Education Centers, and statewide Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search and GEAR Up programs, wherein they provided targeted first-generation student outreach and support at the pre-college level.
