The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) allows students to use the knowledge they already have to gain credit for classes. The Testing Center offers all CLEP examinations, however only certain exams are accepted for CMU credit. The CLEP exam tests for a comprehensive understanding of a college level class much like a comprehensive final. Students are strongly encouraged to review the CLEP study guide or the textbook before testing. Examinees can purchase study guides directly from CLEP. Students may not retest for three months. Please contact the Testing Center with any questions about CLEP testing.
A student may not earn CLEP credit in a class in which they have previously been enrolled including a class from which the student withdrew, so that the transcript shows a W, WP, or WF.
