DOUBLE REED DAY

Colorado Mesa University professors Dr. William Aikens (oboe) and Dr. Jeffrey McCray (bassoon) are excited to host Double Reed Day, which is open to all band directors and oboe and bassoon players of all ages and abilities. The day will include chamber music, master classes, reed making sessions, and an evening recital! Our guest artists this year are Christian Tran (oboe) and Christian Smith (bassoon), the double reed faculty at BYU!
Registration is open through November 15. Walk-in registration will also be available that day. Please follow signs in the Moss Performing Arts Center to our registration table to sign in and register! Registration is $20 and can be paid online or by credit card (credit card will be available for day-of registration only).
What to bring- Your instruments! Everyone will play during the day and at the evening recital!
- Dinner (bring or buy on campus)
- Attire: casual. Jeans and nice shirt for the recital.
- 12-12:45 pm: Check-in
- 12:45 pm: Welcome!
- 1–2 pm: Oboe or Bassoon Ensemble
- 2–3 pm: Instrument Classes
- 3–4:30 pm: Reed Making Class
- 4:30–5:30 pm: Masterclasses
- 5:30–6:30 pm: Dinner
- 6:30–7:30 pm: Ensemble rehearsal and recital warm-up
- 7:30 pm: Recital – Love Recital Hall
