Video Transcript: Why Mesa 1

Nathan: My name is Nathan Kleine Deters. I'm a vocal music performance here. This is my fourth year. I guess what made me choose Mesa State was a lot of scholarship opportunites. I heard a lot of good things about the music program. It has a really good reputation. I want to go to grad school. Get a masters degree in vocal performance and I actually, believe it or not, would like to sing opera professionally. I think that Mesa's given me the tools to allow me to do that. I've had a lot of performance experience. My very first year, I was an undeclared major, I was in an acting class and they announced audition for West Side Story. So I did the audition, nailed the audition and got the part my freshman year, and I wasn't even a theater major or anything. Being able to walk in as a freshman, undeclared major and getting a part is outstanding.
