-
STEP 1: Student Meets with Faculty Internship Coordinator/Faculty Advisor
Faculty Internship Coordinator and/or Faculty Advisor will discuss options in the student’s field of study and advise if an internship will meet the standards of Colorado Mesa University to receive college credit. Faculty can advise student on options and propose potential placement sites based on department or industry.
-
STEP 2: Faculty Opens Internship Registration
Instructor permission override is typically needed to allow students to register for an internship.
-
STEP 3: Student Completes Internship Agreement and Learning Plan
Students may request digital internship paperwork through the Career Services website. An email from “Colorado Mesa University via DocuSign” with a link to the digital paperwork will be generated from Career Services. The document advances after it is signed by first the student, then the Site Supervisor at the place of employment, then the Faculty Internship Advisor at CMU, then the corresponding Department Head. The document must be signed for it to move forward in the queue. Contact Career Services with questions.

STEP 4: Approve Internship Experience in Handshake
Students will create an internship experience in Handshake before they begin their experience. Students may upload employer contact information and their completed DocuSign document. At the conclusion of the experience, faculty will evaluate the internship experience in Handshake prior to the approval deadline at the end of the semester.
