Back to School

Fall 2017 classes start on August 21. Are you ready? We've put together a list of things you will want to know before the semester kicks off including what is new at CMU.

8 Things to Know for Fall 2017

Things to know for this fall

#1 Move-in

Aug. 18-20

If you’re not in the FYI or MVP programs, move in to your new res hall starting Aug. 18. Find details including the Move-In Map with the best place to park for unloading your stuff into your new room. More info on residence hall move in.

#2 Parking permits

CMU is switching to a new parking permit system. The new system "reads" license plates to check for a valid permit. There is no physical permit to put in your vehicle. Purchase a permit online through MAVzone beginning August 1. More info on parking permits.

#3 New MAVcards

Don’t forget to pick-up your new MAVcard! The new MAVcard will do everything the old one did and more, such as having a new mobile app that will let you check balances, pay with your phone, make deposits, report a lost card, etc. Bring your old MAVcard and exchange it for the new one. Visit the MAVcard Office for more info.

Pick-up Schedule:

If you have a US Bank checking account, you may link your new MAVcard to your US Bank account and use it as a debit card at PIN-based (as opposed to chip-based) locations. More info on linking your MAVcard with US Bank.

An On Site Banker will be on campus regularly. The On Site Banker will be in the UC lobby Aug. 14–Sept. 1, 8am–5pm.
