The program is held Sunday, August 12 through Friday, August 17, 2018. Registration will open in April- admitted students will recieve an email invite.

The MVP Program is especially designed for Colorado Mesa University students admitted into the Provisional Baccalaureate program. This program assists students in making a successful transition to college by enabling them to come to campus a week early and start learning the strategies and skills they will need to start their first semester off right. The program is taught by Academic Success Coaches that meet one-on-one with students throughout the PB program to provide additional support and guidance. Students will have the opportunity to become familiar with the CMU campus and its resources as well as participate in many activities to help them start meeting people on campus.

The MVP Program will:

  • Cover expectations for learning in a college environment
  • Provide students with a connection to the CMU campus and an Academic Success Coach
  • Build a community with other new CMU students
  • Teach students about on campus resources available to assist them
  • Educate students about making good financial decisions
  • Explain campus academic policies and procedures
  • Engage students in utilizing the different types of technology used in courses at CMU
  • Identify potential study skills areas students may need to improve
  • Help students develop an Academic Success Plan

Program Cost

There is an option to live on campus during the week of MVP or commute. The living on campus cost includes the program cost, residence hall, as well as, breakfast, lunch and dinner for the week. The commuter price includes program cost and lunch Monday through Friday during the program.

College Success Skills (UNIV 100), the class taught during the MVP Program, will add one credit to your fall class schedule. Students will be charged for one credit of tuition in addition to the MVP program charges. Students Living on Campus for the MVP Program: 
Students who have been assigned campus housing with the last name beginning with A-L may move in on Sunday from 8:00-9:30am and students with the last name beginning with M-Z may move in from 9:30-11:00am. From 11:00-2:00pm there will be open move-in. MVP students will move directly into the room assigned to them for the academic year. Students withdrawing from CMU after the start of the MVP Program will be liable for the cost of their 2018 residence life contract. The cost for the on-campus option of MVP includes the program fee, textbook*, additional supplies, housing and meals for the week of MVP.

Commuter Student: 
This option is for students living off campus during MVP week. The cost for commuter students include lunches Sunday through Friday, the program fee, textbook* and additional supplies.

*Your textbook is a special edition that will be provided at the program check-in. DO NOT purchase one in advance! You will also use the same textbook during your UNIV 101 class.

Living On Campus?

If you plan to live on campus during the MVP program, please indicate this on your registration form. You will be moving directly into the room assigned to you for the academic year. You may move in on Aug. 12th between 8am and 2pm. To make the check-in process go as smoothly as possible, we will be checking in students with last names beginning with the letters A-L from 8-9:30am and students with last names beginning with the letters M-Z from 9:30-11am. We will have open check-in from 11am-2:00pm. Simply go straight to your assigned residence hall — Residence Life is expecting you!


You must complete your MVP Program check-in on Sunday no later than 2pm. Check-in will occur just outside the Admissions Office Welcome Center. You will receive your textbook, class schedule and other materials. The first required session will be held Sunday promptly at 3:30pm in your designated classroom.

July 31, 2018: Last day to register for MVP (or until program fills to capacity)
August 1, 2018: Last day for 100 percent refund if program attendance is dropped
August 4, 2018: Last day for a 50 percent refund if program attendance is dropped
August 7, 2018 and after: No refunds available

To register for the MVP Program, please log into your MAVzone account and go to the “Next Steps” tab. On the bottom right under “Plan for Your Arrival” please click “Maverick Provisional (MVP) Program.” An MVP enrollment confirmation email with program details will be sent to your account as well as the additional e-mail addresses you provide in your registration form.
