Card Troubleshooting Guide

Please take all lost and found keys and cards to the University Center Information Desk. 970.248.1758

Symptoms of an impaired elevator include:

  • You push the button but the car never comes, and you cannot hear it moving
  • The door is stuck open
  • You hear an alarm or audible of some sort
  • The air temperature in the car is hot
  • The ride is bumpy
  • You hear screeching or scratching when the doors open / close, or when the car is moving

Please call ATLaS @ 970.248.1075 to report the issue. If we do not answer, please leave a message.

If you are stuck in an elevator:

  • In a residence hall elevator, call your RA duty phone, if no answer, call 970.254.HELP.
  • In a non-residence hall elevator, call 970.254.HELP.

If you do not get an answer, push the call button in the car. Calling the numbers above will yield the fastest, most elegant response. Pushing the call button will prompt the fire department to respond, but it may take considerably longer to be extricated.

Please know that if you are stuck in an elevator you are completely safe! Forget what you see in the movies. The car will not drop down the shaft. Our elevators cannot be remotely controlled. You will never run out of air in the car. In the event of a fire there are extensive fire protection systems surrounding elevators. Never take the elevator when trying to escape a fire. When the car is stuck, it will get warm because there is very little moving air. This is normal.

If the door is an exterior entrance or or entrance to a sensitive area (money, employment documents, etc) that would be left unsecured, call 970.254.HELP as soon as you identify the issue. The more time we have to repair the opening, the better.

If the door is to a office inside a suite that locks, bathroom, closet, conference room, or similarly low-risk space. Please submit a work order.

Below is the basic anatomy of a door. Please use the appropriate terms in your description of the problem, it helps us bring the correct tools and fix it as fast as possible!
