The CMU Astronomy Club is a student run club that frequently hosts on and off-campus observing nights with telescopes, eclipse viewing events, solar observing events, guest speakers, backpacking observing trips, and many other community events.  The club recently participated in the Colorado Space Grant Consortium's Demosat program, in which club members (collaborating with the Society of Physics Students) designed and built an experiment that went into space.  They also participated in the Dynamic Eclipse Broadcast Initiative's citizen science program to image the Sun during the October, 2023 and April, 2024 partial solar eclipses.
