There will be three sociology movie nights this semester: Wednesday, February 7, Wednesday, March 6, and Wednesday, April 3 at 6 pm in Escalante 318. Come watch a movie with us and ruin it with sociology afterwards! I mean, apply sociological concepts to it.
Join our group over on Facebook! It's a place to share what you're reading or watching, share information about job opportunities and events, keep in touch with alumni, and more. Be sure to answer the membership questions when you follow the link.
The sociology club is a home for majors, minors, and anyone interested in why people do what they do! We meet every Monday at 3:00 PM in Dominguez 313 for sociological discussions, networking with like-minded individuals, community service projects, and fun activities.
Special Meeting on April 8th, 3-4pm in Dominguez 313:
Anyone interested in being in the club next year, attending a conference, or becoming a club officer should attend the April 8th meeting.
At the start of the meeting, the students who presented at the Pacific Sociological Association annual conference last week will share their experiences and encourage others to present at future conferences. There will also be an "election" for the positions we need to be filled for next year. The positions that MUST be filled are President, Vice President, and Treasurer.
The president typically has the most responsibility when running the club, but they can work with the VP to split duties. Both the president and VP are responsible for requesting events on Presence, planning and running club meetings, advertising, networking with other clubs and organizations, and making sure that all club officers attend CAB trainings and other mandatory CAB events. We also work with sociology professors to advertise events and fundraisers for the club.
The treasurer is responsible for keeping track of the club's funds and spending. They can also be responsible for purchasing things and requesting purchases from CAB. Other positions that need to be filled are secretary (note taker) and media manager (in charge of the sociology club's socials).
If anyone has questions, they can use the contact form on Presence or reach out to the current club president, Gina Dezwaan-Martinez ([email protected]).
