Foundation Scholarships for Incoming Freshman

Ambassador Leadership Scholarship

Value: Full tuition and fees

Criteria:

  • Renewable scholarship (120 credit hour maximum).
  • Highly competive and available to incoming freshmen.
  • Must demonstrate extensive leadership experience in high school, community, and in co-curricular activities.
  • Up to ten students are selected each year.
  • Requires 15 to 25+ hours per week.
  • Selected students are involved in Alumni, Admissions, Presidential receptions, and more.

Alpine Bank Hispanic Scholarship

Value: $2000
Criteria:

  • Available to graduating High School seniors within the Alpine Bank service area.
  • Must attend Colorado Mesa University full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Scholarship is renewable, but requires reapplying each year by posted deadline.
  • Must be of Hispanic or Latino descent.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have a resident alien registration number.
  • Must demonstrate financial need, desire to learn, and ability to set goals.

 

Richard Blumberg Memorial Scholarship

Value: $1000 (one-time cash gift towards tuition, books, and fees).
Criteria:

  • Available to graduating senior of Delta High School (Delta, CO).
  • Must attend Colorado Mesa University full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Participated in the DHS track program for at least two years, lettered in track at least one year.

 

Jeffrey and Kenneth Braa Memorial Scholarship

Value: $500
Criteria:

  • Graduating male Senior from Grand Junction, Central, Palisade, DeBeque or Gateway High School.
  • Must attend Colorado Mesa University full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Must have participated in high school athletics and intends to participate in intercollegiate sports at CMU.

 

Louis and Betty Brach Scholarship

Value:$500
Criteria:

  • Graduating Fruita Monumnet High School student.
  • Must attend Colorado Mesa University full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.

 

Genevieve Clough Fellows Scholarship

Value: In-state tuition and fees (maximum of 12 credits per semester)
Criteria:

  • Available to high school graduates of Garfield County School Districts 16 and RE-2.
  • Graduates of the current school year will be given first preference, however, graduates from two years prior are also eligible to apply.
  • This scholarship is also available to eligible applicants who reside in the same geographic area and have completed a GED in the last three years.

Deadline: April 15th

 

Grand Valley Power Scholarship

Value: $1000

Criteria:

  • Must reside in a home served by Grand Valley Power.
  • Must be a graduate of a Mesa County Valley School District 51 (Colorado) high school.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2.
  • Must provide a Letter of Recommendation from a teacher.
  • Must provide a Letter of Recommendation from a teacher, employer, or other individual who can testifiy of the applicant's character, commitment, and ability to earn their chosen degree.
  • Must provide one 500-word essay describing reason for wanting to attend college/university.
  • Must provide one 500-word essay describing the career path chosen and why.

Ron Haller Memorial Scholarship

Value: $100
Criteria:

  • Available to a graduating senior from Fruita Monument High School.
  • Attend Colorado Mesa University full time (minimum 12 credit hours per semester).
  • Majoring in Business Administration.

 

Anna Lee Janowitz Memorial Scholarship

   *If attending Colorado Mesa University the award $amount will be matched by CMU.

Criteria:

  • Must be a graduate of a Mesa County Valley School District 51 (Colorado) high school.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Must be involved in your school's track & field or cross country program.
  • Must be admitted to an accredited college or university.

Merle and Thelma Lanning Scholarship

Value: $1,500 - Renewable for up to four years.
Criteria:

  • Available to graduates from high schools in Delta County.
  • Attend Colorado Mesa University full time (minimum 12 credit hours per semester).
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.

 

Joanna and Craig Little Scholarship

Value: $2000
Criteria:

  • Full-time Colorado Mesa University student or incoming freshman (minimum 12 credit hours per semester).
  • Single mother with one or more children living with her.
  • Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Financial need will be considered.

 

Mays Concrete Inc., Reaching Out Scholarship

Value: $1000

Criteria:

  • Must be a graduate of a Mesa County School District 51 high school.
  • Attend Colorado Mesa University full time (minimum 12 credit hours per semester).
  • Parent must be gainfully employed with Mays Concrete, Inc. at the time of the award selection.
  • Student must be working toward a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Student must have completed and have poof of 100 hours of logged community service for any local community non-profit organization.

 

Sandra Hays Sells Memorial Scholarship

Criteria:

  • Must be a graduate of De Beque, Gateway, Palisade or Plateau Valley High School.
  • Attend Colorado Mesa University full time (minimum 12 credit hours per semester).
  • Field of study must be Language, Literature & Communication; History; or Music.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.

 

Society of Petroleum Engineers Scholarship

Value: Varies depending on funds available*
Criteria:

  • Must be a resident of one of the following counties: Colorado - Garfield, Mesa, Delta, Montrose, San Miguel, Ouray, Gunnison, Pitkin and Eagle: Utah - Grand.
  • Attend Colorado Mesa University full time (minimum 12 credit hours per semester).
  • Must be enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering program.
  • Suggested minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Students may re-apply each year as long as the above requirements are met.

 

Sweet Adelines' Darlene Guerrie Scholarship

Value: Determined by funds available.
Criteria:

  • Attend Colorado Mesa University full time (minimum 12 credit hours per semester).
  • Must be majoring or minoring in vocal music or choral directing.
  • Preference given to residents of the Western Slope of Colorado.
  • Preference given and female students but outstanding male candidates can be considered.

Deadline: May 5th

 

Richard E. Tope Memorial Scholarship

Value: $1000 for up to four years
Criteria:

  • Available to one graduating senior from Grand Junction High School.
  • Attend Colorado Mesa University full time (minimum 12 credit hours per semester).
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Students may re-apply for up to 4 year as long as the above requirements are met.

 

Bob Wilson Scholarship

  • Attend Colorado Mesa University full time (minimum 12 credit hours per semester).
  • Preference given to Accounting majors who attended a rural high school.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.
