The Colorado Mesa University Department of Art and Design, the Marketing and Communications Office and the Mascot Program are sponsoring the Spirit of Rowdy Sticker Collection Competition.

Spirit of Rowdy Sticker Collection

The Spirit of Rowdy Sticker Collection was established in 2021 by the Colorado Mesa University Mascot Program to create a visual platform for members of the Mavily to express what being a Maverick means to them using stickers as the canvas.

The Process:
A jury of three experts for the local art community will assess the submissions individually first, then deliberate with each other to ensure the winning stickers meet the submission criteria and the concept best answers the question at the heart of the contest: What does being a Maverick mean? After reaching a consensus, the jury will give the selected piece artist the Jury Selection Award, representing that sticker is best in the show.

The Mascot Program will then share all the sticker designs with the campus and local community by curating the Spirit of Rowdy Artshow. Attendees viewing the show will cast votes for their favorite sticker design. The mascot program coordinator will tally the polls at the show's close. The submissions with the most endorsements will earn the competition's People's Choice Award.

Both winners will be added to the Spirit of Rowdy Sticker Collection and cataloged on the contest's website. The award-winning artwork will then be professionally printed on durable vinyl and turned into a full-color sticker for Mavily to collect and the University to share with quests. The artists who created the designs will win a juried show; they will receive a financial scholarship from CMU and other prizes.

The Mascot Program will sell the winning designs as a fundraiser for the program to grow the Rowdy Performers Scholarship Fund into an endowment. Establish for the mascot student performers; the scholarship recognizes the service of bringing Rowdy to life to the University and dedication in perfecting their performance skills.
