“My love for the Maverick Stampede started back in high school when I watched them perform during junior year. I was so amazed that something so incredible could be so close to home! It was definitely the reason I chose to go to Colorado Mesa University. It’s been wonderful watching the Stampede grow since I first saw it, and now as I’m going into my third year, I can’t wait to inspire more to join the best marching band on the Western slope, Go Mavs!”
Celeste Tovar is a junior at Colorado Mesa University, currently pursuing a degree in K-12 Music Education. Upon graduating, she hopes to teach at a middle school band or choir here on the Western slope. Her main instrument is clarinet, and she’s been a member of the Maverick Stampede for the last three years, serving as Clarinet Section Leader for the 2017 season.
Celeste participates in multiple ensembles on campus, including the Wind Symphony and the Clarinet Choir. She is also a member of CMU NAfME, CMU’s music education club. When Celeste is not practicing or performing, she likes to workout, do photography, play video games, and make people laugh.
