The Maverick Stampede Leadership Team is a group of marching members with at least one year of experience who facilitate all aspects of band operations. Every team member is essential to the success of the ensemble: from providing the downbeats in time, to fitting correctly sized uniforms for the band, to ensuring the field light fixtures are in place, the Maverick Stampede Leadership Team enables the band to move forward together.

The Band Captain leads the MAVS Team and serve as the central figure of the Maverick Stampede, selected through application and election. The band captain and assistant band captains model leadership, organization, confidence, and communication, embodying the “Spirit of the Stampede” with swagger, professionalism, and positivity. The Band Captain’s words begin and conclude every rehearsal, setting the tone for the ensemble. They foster collaboration, support sections, help solve issues, and ensure smooth operations, making them essential to the Stampede’s culture and success. The Maverick Stampede drum majors are the conduit to the band’s performance; they act as executive leaders and conductors of the band, responsible for starting and stopping the band, maintaining tempo, being good stewards of rehearsals, fostering unity, and exemplifying the "Spirit of the Stampede" both on and off the field. Drum Majors are chosen by application and live audition, which demonstrates their conducting vocabulary as well as how their energy and musicianship mirror the Maverick Stampede.
Maverick Stampede Section Leaders are students who have demonstrated a high proficiency in teaching music and movement via live audition. The sections include Piccolos, Reeds, High Brass, Trombones, Baritones/Sousaphones, Battery, Front Ensemble, and Colorguard. Key responsibilities for section leaders include reinforcing communication of announcements and expectations, leading sectionals and rehearsals, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment. Section Leaders are exemplary musicians who demonstrate leadership, organization, and creativity and ultimately assist in a major way to make the Maverick Stampede experience a positive one.
