The Springboard Fellowship will open a world of possibilities for eager students looking to build social capital and propel more confidently into life after college. The Springboard Fellowship is a free, year-long program designed to support underserved, hard-working first generation students who are excited about their future careers. By June 2026, Fellows will have developed the preparedness they'll need to confidently tackle networking events, presentations, and job interviews, and ultimately find success in their professional journeys. In addition to spring boarding into career opportunities students who complete the program will receive $4,000 to set them up post-graduation. Watch the video below to learn more and apply today!

What is social capital?
Social capital represents personal and professional benefits that stem from building relationships. The Springboard Fellowship helps students build social capital and cultivate the skills necessary to strengthen and grow their professional networks.
What can Springboard Fellows access?
From connecting with local business leaders to attending networking events and participating in professional development sessions, students will build social capital and take a deep dive into career readiness. Fellows will hone their communication and leadership skills while working alongside inspiring mentors and community leaders.
Is the Springboard Fellowship free?
Yes! Students will not incur costs during their tenure with the Fellowship. Travel is also sponsored by the university. Students who successfully complete the Fellowship will receive a $4,000 Springboard Award to offset expenses associated with starting a new career, such as purchasing business attire, signing an apartment lease or navigating transportation in a new city.
When does the Fellowship begin and end?
The Springboard Fellowship will kickoff in Fall of 2025 and will go through Spring 2026.
What is the time commitment?
Students should plan on committing 8-10 hours a month toward the Fellowship, not including travel.
Where will students travel during the Fellowship?
Throughout the year, students will have the opportunity to attend conferences and professional development workshops in Grand Junction and Denver.
Who can apply?
The Springboard Fellowship application is open to first generation CMU students who will be seniors beginning the Fall 2025 term.
How do I apply?
