What do you do on a day-to-day basis?

On a day-to-day basis I work on a variety of things to keep 5280Fit running. Some things that I do is program my group fitness and small group fitness classes to ensure that our clients get the most out of each and every workout. Each day I teach at least 1-2 classes per day and help connect with the clients before/after class. We not only offer people a place to workout but a place to connect and grow with an amazing community as well. I love to connect with people to help them not only on their physical fitness, their body, but their mind, spirit and happiness as well. This past year I have also learned so much on how to keep a business running from the back end that consists of marketing, sales, books, payroll, taxes, etc.

Other than learning everything in the science of Exercise to provide my clients the best possible workout, CMU also taught me how to communicate, work, and lead others. These are just as important as what I learned in class.

What was your transition like from being a student to your career position?

I was fortunate enough to know exactly what I wanted to do going right into higher education and having a parent, my mother, own her own business. I hit the ground running right after I finished school. I started teaching classes and started learning everything that my mother had to offer me about the business.

What advice would you give to incoming students?

The advice that I would give incoming college students is to enjoy these years in college, they fly by fast. Make sure that you have fun, make friends and get outdoors, but also focus and get done what you need to for classes, it will pay off.
