What is an investiture ceremony?

An investiture is the act or ceremony of formally conferring an honor or rank on a particular person.

On Friday, October 22, the Board of Trustees and Colorado Mesa University will welcome and celebrate John Marshall as the 11th president of this institution. The investiture ceremony creates an occasion to celebrate CMU and its connection to a long history of learning and community. It also presents an opportunity for President John Marshall to share his vision for the university going forward. Last it brings together the diverse stakeholders of the university - students, faculty, staff, administrators, trustees, community members and politicians - to reaffirm our commitment to each other and the institution.

The ceremony will be invite-only and will include an academic processional, congratulation speeches, keynote speakers and a presidential address.

Watch the Investiture Ceremony live on CMU's Facebook or via this stream (the stream will begin 30 minutes prior to the ceremony).

You can also join watch parties at The Point on the main campus, Chez Lena multipurpose room at Western Colorado Community College and Cascade Hall multipurpose room at the Montrose Campus.
