Chris Haines holds a master's degree in cell biology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. His undergraduate degree is in genetics from Texas A&M. He has been teaching at the college level for the last 15 years and absolutely loves it! His courses have included introductory biology, microbiology and A&P.

Haines is married to a fellow teacher who teaches third grade, and they have two wonderful children. First is their daughter, who is just a wild ball of excitement! She also loves sweeping, go figure! The second is their son, who loves to get everyone all laughing and has no fear! They both ski with no fear: tree skiing for her and full speed down the blues trying to hit little jumps off the sides for him!

Haines has lived in Colorado since 2006. He and his wife always thought that they would move to Colorado after college and that is what they did. It’s been just as much fun as they thought it would be. He loves to spend as much of his free time as possible up in the mountains camping, hiking, skiing, etc. Some of his at-home hobbies are brewing mead, pottery and cooking delicious and varied food. His newest hobby is making fresh dairy products including yogurt, sour cream and various varieties of fresh cheeses. Eight years ago, he and his family moved out to 40 acres on the Western Slope of Colorado in Paonia and they are living in a yurt!
