Ashley Ecklund has a PhD in English from the University of Oregon (2024) and studies twentieth and twenty-first century multiethnic American Literature alongside Literary Theory. She enjoys teaching a mix of composition and literature courses here at CMU and loves working with students. Ecklund aims to work with students one-on-one as much as possible; She also strives to show students how writing and reading can offer moments of fun, even if English is their least favorite subject.
Her most recent publication is an article on Art Spiegelman’s Maus and Affect Theory and she is working on a monograph tentatively titled The Texture of Affect: Everyday Catastrophe in Late Twentieth Century American Literature.
