Advising FAQ

  • Students who are pursuing a CMU degree program will typically work with an academic advisor in Integrated Services for Information & Solutions (IRIS) for their first year while they are completing essential learning and foundation classes. Contact IRIS to make an appointment with an advisor or to hear available walk-in hour times.

  • PB Students (Provisional Baccalaureate): Students admitted into the PB Program will be assigned a Student Success Coach and will receive their advising from their coach. Contact the Office of Student Success to schedule an appointment with your Student Success Coach:  970-248-1340.

  • GOALS (Greater Opportunity for Academic and Life Success) Students: Students admitted into the GOALS Program will be assigned a specific advisor who is not housed at IRIS.  Contact 970-255-2635 to schedule an appointment with a GOALS advisor.

  • Students will also be assigned a faculty advisor in their academic department. Students can view their faculty advisor’s information in MavZone under the “Student Academics” tab and then under the “Academic Profile” section.  To find your faculty advisor’s contact information, visit the CMU directory here.

IRIS is located on the first floor of Lowell Heiny Hall.  Office hours are 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday.  Call 970-248-1177 to schedule an appointment or to hear walk-in hour times.  You can also reach the office by email at iris@coloradomesa.edu.

Phone Appointments are reserved only for students who are outside of Grand Junction or who are taking all online courses.  If you fall into one of these categories, you can call the office to schedule a phone-in appointment: 970-248-1177.

To be prepared for the phone-in appointment, we recommend that students be in front of a computer and logged into their MavZone.
