¡Bienvenidos Mavs! I'm Giovany Tarango Gardea, an IRIS Advisor at Colorado Mesa University. Born and raised in Craig, Colorado, I earned my BBA from Regis University, becoming the first person in my family to graduate from college. I am a proud product of immigrants and have spent most of my time tutoring and advising immigrants, refugees, and asylees coming primarily from Latin America throughout my time in Denver. I am a strong believer in the value of cura personalis, or "care for the whole person", a principle of individualized holistic support. My goal is to honor each student’s unique story and potential, guiding them toward personal and academic success.
Outside of school, I am a huge Colorado sports fan (yes, even the Rockies unfortunately), an outdoors person, enjoy going to the gym, and love a good video game or geeky movie. Family is the most important thing in life for me, as it is because of them that I am who I am today.
