Cultural Diversity Board at Colorado Mesa University

The student-led Cultural Diversity Board (CDB) strives to promote and support the ethnic and cultural groups on campus by providing educational resources and support services. CDB serves as the educational liaison to Colorado Mesa University campuses and the regional community regarding culturally diverse issues.

CDB alliances are open to anyone interested in perpetuating the promotion and support of CMU's cultural groups. The CDB alliance offices are located on the second floor of the University Center in the Student Life area. Six different cultural alliances fall under the Cultural Diversity Board:

The mission of the Black Student Alliance (BSA) is to educate the campus community on African American culture.

The BSA sponsors various events throughout the year to provide cultural educational activities that are fun and experiential. The BSA meets regularly during the fall and spring semesters. The BSA also sponsors a culturally significant month and participates in CMU's annual week-long Unity Fest. For more information, contact the Cultural Diversity Board or the BSA advisor.

 

The Gay Straight Alliance at CMU strives to advocate fairness and equality for all students, regardless of sexual orientation or gender expression.

The GSA produces various events throughout the year and meets regularly during the fall and spring semesters. Each October, GSA produces an entire month of LGBTQA-themed programming. For more information on this or any other LGBTQA issues, contact the Cultural Diversity Board or the GSA Advisors.

The Trevor Project, a national LGBT Youth suicide prevention hotline, is available 24 hours a day at 1.866.4.U.TREVOR (1.866.488.7386) or you can use the local crisis line at (1.888.207.4004)

The Student Services Office works collaboratively with faculty and staff from across the University to ensure LGBTQ Mavericks know their needs will be recognized and addressed thoughtfully and proactively to create a positive environment. Student Services staff and GSA advisors are also available to meet with you and provide appropriate referrals for support as needed on an individual basis. Please don't hesitate to call.

The mission of the International Student Association (ISA) is to promote respect and understanding of other cultures and lifestyles on campus and in the community.

The ISA sponsors various events throughout the year to provide cultural educational activities that are fun and experiential. The ISA meets regularly during the fall and spring semesters. The ISA also sponsors a culturally significant month and participates in CMU's annual week-long Unity Fest. For more information, contact the Cultural Diversity Board or the ISA advisor.

The Latino Student Alliance works to promote Latin and South American culture by educating, recruiting, and retaining people interested in learning about culture and diversity.

The Latino Student Alliance sponsors various events throughout the year to provide cultural educational activities that are fun and experiential. The Latino Student Alliance meets regularly during the fall and spring semesters. The alliance also sponsors a culturally significant month and participates in CMU's annual week-long Unity Fest. The mission of the Native American Student Alliance is to promote and educate people about the Native American cultures.

The mission of the Ho'olokahi Polynesian Club Alliance is to promote the Polynesian culture within the CMU community.

Ho'olokahi sponsors various events throughout the year to provide cultural educational activities that are fun and experiential. Ho'olokahi meets regularly during the fall and spring semesters. Ho'olokahi also sponsors a culturally significant month and participates in CMU's annual week-long Unity Fest.
