Orientation

Colorado Mesa University offers Student Orientation programs to prepare new students for their educational careers at CMU. The programs are designed to acquaint you with the campus, students, faculty and staff. Throughout the day, you’ll go over important academic and social topics, and receive advising and registration assistance for your first semester classes. Check-in begins at 7:45am in the University Center Ballroom and the day lasts until about 4pm. Please plan on staying for the entire day. Students must bring a government issued photo ID to orientation in order to receive their MAVcard.

At Orientation, You Will:

  • Meet with an academic advisor and register for classes
  • Attend informative sessions
  • Learn how to get involved on campus
  • Receive your MAVcard (student ID)
  • Take a tour to become familiar with campus, and more

Pre-Orientation Testing

Certain courses require tests prior to registration. Depending on your SAT or ACT score, you may need to take placement tests to determine your courses. If you need to take placement tests, they MUST be completed before registering for your orientation session. Not sure if you need to test?

Orientation Mission

Our mission is to educate and acclimate students to their new home here at Colorado Mesa University. Interactions with faculty, staff and current students during Orientation help incoming students and their families facilitate a successful academic and personal transition into higher education. During the program, we hope to educate students and parents on the academic resources and developmental and social opportunities available at CMU.
