Welding

With a new welding lab with the latest equipment used in the field, CMU Montrose now offers a 16-week Basic Welder certificate program starting January 22, 2019. The program provides training and opportunity to become proficient at shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, ox/fuel and plasma cutting, blueprint reading, applied mathematics and safety. This program offers over 300 hours of classroom instruction and related lab work by experienced instructors. Welding, cutting, layout, safety, attitude and quality of workmanship are emphasized throughout this program. This certificate prepares students for a welding helper‐apprentice position in the welding industry and is designed to meet competency-based standards set by the American Welding Society. This program prepares students for training on advanced welding skills and to become certified AWS certified welders in the welding industry upon successful completion of the appropriate test standard. Courses are taught in the new welding lab on the CMU Montrose campus. Financial aid is available for qualified students.
