The early childhood education program can be completed through a combination of physical classes on-site at Montrose Campus, online classes, and field experience done through the local school district.

Associate of Arts, Liberal Arts, Emphasis: Early Childhood Education

This program is for students seeking careers in caring for young children from birth to age eight. Graduates find employment in large and small child care centers, open their own home care centers, work in school settings, or use their associate degree to continue in a bachelor's degree program in Elementary Education licensure.

With the increasing demand for quality early education, many employers require their staff to demonstrate a level of expertise provided by this associate of arts degree. The program meets state requirements for early childhood teacher certification and qualifies students to be a group leader and director as defined by the Colorado Department of Human Services.

Faculty offer one-on-one guidance for course selection, field placements, student teaching and employment. Students complete their degree by student teaching at a preschool classroom for a semester.
