Interlibrary Loan FAQ

The ILL Department obtains articles and borrows books and other materials for you from other libraries throughout Colorado and the entire US.

You may request articles, books, music CDs, movie or documentary DVDs, and other materials. The ILL Department makes its best effort to fill all requests. Be aware that some material is difficult to obtain, such as dissertations, genealogy material, reference and rare items.
There is no charge for CMU students, staff, and faculty.

Submit a request using ILLiad, our Interlibrary Loan system.

Yes, simply submit a request through the library catalog. Pick up material at the CMU Library Checkout & Reserves desk, or the Montrose or Western Colorado Community College campuses.

 Yes, just submit an ILL request using ILLiad. Your article will be delivered to your online ILL account as a PDF.

Articles typically arrive within 1 to 3 business days. Books and other physical materials typically arrive within 3 to 5 business days. Delivery to the Montrose or Western Colorado Community College locations takes a day or two longer.

Physical items are delivered to the CMU Library Checkout & Reserves desk, or the Montrose or Western Colorado Community College campuses. Articles can be retrieved from your desktop, tablet, or smart device as a PDF.

Contact the ILL Department at 970.248.1844 or ill@coloradomesa.edu We will either re-send your document in another format, or print it for pickup at the CMU Library  Checkout & Reserves desk, or the Montrose or Western Colorado Community College campuses.

The lending library sets the due date. You may request a renewal using ILLiad, call 970.248.1844, or email ill@coloradomesa.edu Renewal requests should be made before the due date.

You are responsible for lost or damaged items and associated charges. The lending library determines costs. Charges will be added to your library and student accounts.
