On-the-Job Learning:
Approximately 4,000 work hours (paid), 2-2.5 Years
During this program, apprentices will develop proficiency in 113 essential skills under the guidance of an experienced mentor. These skills include workplace safety, drawings, interpreting drawings, materials and metallurgy fundamentals, shield metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and other related automotive skills.
Related Technical Instruction:
240 required hours
You will follow the course work for the Basic Welder Technical Certificate. This includes 16 credit hours with CMU Tech. This course load can be completed in one year.
Certification
Graduates of the Apprenticeship Program receive a nationally recognized certificate through the Department of Labor and State Apprenticeship Agency. This certificate is recognized nationally to show demonstration of practical skills and knowledge required for the occupation.
