The HVAC Apprenticeship is a time-based program requiring 6,000 hours of On-the-Job Learning (OJL). Apprentices will gain hands-on experience under the supervision of qualified journey-level HVAC professionals while developing the knowledge and skills necessary to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems. OJL hours will provide progressive experience in areas such as safety, tools and equipment, electrical systems, heating and cooling systems, ventilation, refrigerant systems, system diagnostics, installation, maintenance, and repair. Apprentices will document their hours and work experience throughout the program to demonstrate completion of the required OJL hours.

435 required hours
You will follow the course work for the HVAC Fundamentals Technical Certificate and Plumbing Service I Technical Certificate. This includes 29 credit hours with CMU Tech. This course load can be completed in one year at full time student status or spread over multiple years to allow students to balance their coursework with work hours.
Certification
Graduates of the Apprenticeship Program receive a nationally recognized certificate through the Department of Labor and State Apprenticeship Agency. This certificate is recognized nationally to show demonstration of practical skills and knowledge required for the occupation.
