The Childcare Director program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively lead and manage early childhood education programs, including staff supervision, program administration, regulatory compliance, family engagement, and creating a safe, high-quality learning environment for young children.

On-the-Job Learning:

Approximately 4,000 work hours (paid), 2-2.5 years

Related Technical Instruction:

450 required hours 

Apprentices will follow the coursework for Director Technical Certificate. This includes 30 credit hours with CMU Tech. This course load can be completed in 1-2 years. Individuals may have the option to have previous certificates such as the CDA and Pyramid to count towards certain training courses. 

Certification

Graduates of the Apprenticeship Program receive a nationally recognized certificate through the Department of Labor and State Apprenticeship Agency. This certificate is recognized nationally to show demonstration of practical skills and knowledge required for the occupation.
