Before joining the CMU Tech faculty in 2022, Joe White worked in the fire service for 30 years, serving on the Grand Junction Fire Department, Palisade Fire Department and Clifton Fire Protection District, where he retired as the Interim Fire Chief.

White holds certifications in Paramedic, Fire Officer, State Proctor, Live Fire Instructor, Driver Operator, Wildland Firefighter 1 and ICT5. He is currently working as the director of Fire Science, where he teaches Fire Fighter 1, Hazmat Awareness/Operations, Fire Fighter 2 as well as numerous prerequisites required for students’ degrees.

White has lived in Grand Junction most of his life, graduating from both Grand Junction High School and Colorado Mesa University. He left the valley for a few years to serve his country in the Army with the 101st Airborne and to deploy on numerous wild land fires in Colorado, Utah, California and Oregon, where he worked as a line paramedic and medical unit leader.

He is married to Carla White and they have one daughter, Brittani. They enjoy the numerous opportunities that the Grand Valley has to offer.
