Matt Peiffer has nearly 20 years of experience in the HVAC industry. In 2022 he retired from a local contracting firm that he and a business partner started in 2007. Starting from scratch they grew the company to be one of Grand Junction’s top five companies in HVAC and plumbing.

Although teaching at CMU Tech is new to him, Peiffer has trained dozens of individuals in the trade, most of whom have gone on to very successful careers in either plumbing or HVAC. His formal education includes HVAC, plumbing, marketing, business management, advertising and human resources. From 1994-1996 Peiffer attended UTEC (now CMU Tech) for marketing and business management. His professional certifications include: Mechanical and Gas Piping License/Mesa county, NATE Certification in Gas Heating and Air Conditioning, and 20 diplomas in manufacture-specific training.

Peiffer is a hands-on instructor. His students learn by doing. This type of learning leads to increased retention of the material and is a way for students to practice developing their trade-specific and broader problem-solving skills at the same time.

Outside of teaching, Peiffer enjoys time with family and friends, traveling, riding motorcycles and home remodeling.
